"Do Not Be Afraid of Galleries!" — a new book by the ArtHuss publishing house under the partnership of Brovdi Art Foundation

Recently, the well-known Ukrainian publishing house ArtHuss, which specializes in non-fiction and popular art publications, has published the next, fifth book from the UkrainianArtBook series. Earlier, the books of Sarah Thornton, Will Gompertz, Viktor Yerofieiev and Oleksandr Mykhed were published within this series. This time, readers will enjoy a new art bestseller - an interesting and cognitive story by the world-famous British artist Greyson Perry "Do Not Be Afraid of Galleries!" The partner of the publication was the Art & Culture Foundation BrovdiArt.

The author of the book reveals the world of art to ordinary people, proving that everyone can understand and appreciate it. This is an exciting, philosophical and very personal journey full of British humour, ironic author’s illustrations, in which, along with Greyson Perry, one can search for the answers to the difficult questions: what is "good" and what is "bad" art? How to check whether a particular work can be considered an "art" one? Can art shock us – or we have already seen everything before? And, in the end, what is it — to be a modern artist? In general, as stated in the foreword, this book is for anyone who at least once in his life has crossed the threshold of the art gallery and for anyone who has not yet dared to do so.

Grayson Perry himself states: "I am convinced that anyone can enjoy art or become an artist: even a hooligan, a proletarian, or an average man who has something to share. You do not need to belong to any chosen segment of society. Practice, support, confidence can help you to live a life in art as well. And, in this book you will find the basics, which I hope will help you in this."

The book was highly appreciated by numerous art lovers around the world, and now it captures the Ukrainian reader. As a writer, culture expert and curator of art projects Oleksandr Mykhed admits: "It’s my new favourite book. Grayson Perry's sincere story about the world of contemporary art ... The book literally creates a line with which one can decide if art is what I see. ... This is the thinnest book of the series. But this is a solid concentrate of love."

It should be noted that the ArtHuss publishing house and Art & Culture Foundation BrovdiArt have been closely working together since 2016. ArtHuss is a regular partner of the Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel", and it was the publishing house that the bright, voluminous, full-length art catalogues of the first and second contests were published. During the 3rd "Silver Easel" on 9 -14 October 2017, all contestants received sets of books of the UkrainianArtBook series from the Fund of Cultural Initiatives ArtHuss, and the founder and head of the fund Kostiantyn Kozhemiaka awarded one of the participants with a special prize — an invitation to the exhibition "Mechanism of Evolution" in Kyiv.
