A new book about Anatoly Kryvolap's life and creativity

"Kryvolap. Metaphysics of Pure Colour " – a new book by art historian, art critic, curator Olesia Avramenko presented in Kyiv on 23 May 2018 during the opening of the painting project "Anatoly Kryvolap. Ukrainian Landscape" within KYIV ART FAIR.

It is the next book of a series of popular science publications on the history of Ukrainian art of the second half of the 20th – the first half of the 21st centuries under the title Accent, which is the author's project of O. Avramenko.

An epigraph of the work is the statement of Anatoly Kryvolap: "In art, like in life, everyone lives his own destiny." The book reveals the life of the famous contemporary Ukrainian artist, an unrivalled master of non-figurative painting and landscapes Anatoly Kryvolap through the prism of a careful analysis of the artist's creativity which is the result of continuing and difficult searches for artistic self-expression and inspired work.

It is a pleasure to read that an important place in the creative fate of A. Kryvolap was taken by Transcarpathia and people of this region who became friends and colleagues of the artist. In particular, it is about Tiberiy Szilvashi – a famous Ukrainian artist from Mukachevo, without whom one cannot imagine contemporary art space of Ukraine.

As O. Avramenko notes, "Kryvolap's paintings are not just a painted place, a landscape, a plot. It is a passionate and transformed impression came from the artist's mind unexpectedly or it comes every day." It is the very impression of the picturesque nature of Transcarpathia that excited the artist and he opened a studio in the mountainous Velykyi Bereznyi region where he works on the large-format landscape. It is here where the master creates breathtaking landscapes "Kniahynia Village", "View of the Sil village", “Spring Road”, and many others. According to the artist, "a dense uniform colour, saturated with powerful internal energy, is dominating in the Carpathians."
