The winners are determined: the 3rd Open Student Contest in Painting “Silver Easel” was finished in Uzhhorod

Six days of unforgettable experiences, dozens of paint tubes, kilometres of roads and a palette of bright emotions imprinted on the hearts of everyone who was involved – the third Open Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel", which took place from 9 to 14 October 2017 in Uzhhorod was ended.  The organizer of the contest is Art & Culture Foundation Brovdi Art.

On 14 October 2017, in the hall-atrium of the Transcarpathian Regional State Administration it was held the solemn awarding ceremony of prize-winners and laureates of the “Silver Easel” contest.

The founders of the Art & Culture Foundation Brovdi Art and Student Contest in Painting “Silver Easel” Robert and Nataliya Brovdi expressed their gratitude to the partners, Jury, team and mass media for the important work they had done within the contest. Addressing the participants and congratulating them, they noted: "Each of you is already the winner, because you passed through the prism of an extremely serious selection by the competent experts who were in different parts of Ukraine and did not know anything about you except your creativity and portfolio works. This was the only information they had, selecting 1 out of 7 applicants, and this is your victory."

Based on the results of the secret voting of the Jury members, the winners of the 3nd All-Ukrainian Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel" became:  

In the nomination “Cityscape”:

– Gergo Bankuti (Budapest University of Fine Arts);

– Bohdan Bieliei (Lviv National Academy of Arts);

– Yurii Kopanskyi (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture).

In the nomination “Portrait”:

– Bohdan Katolyk (Kharkiv State Art College);

– Taras Hodvan (Transcarpathian Academy of Arts);

– Yevheniia Bozhko (Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture). 

In the nomination “Improvisation”:

– Taras Hodvan (Transcarpathian Academy of Arts);

– Yevhenii Orlov (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture);

– Gergo Bankuti (Budapest University of Fine Arts).

Special prizes from the partners of the contest were received:

The main intrigue of the event was the awarding of the contest Grand Prix from its founders. The awards were given by Robert and Nataliya Brovdi, as well as by the member of the Jury Serhii Sviatchenko and the award partner – director of Western Ukraine "Kyi Avia" Anna Sharkova. Thus, the following participants received grants for a trip to one of the cultural and art centres of Europe and visiting of the world-renowned museums and galleries:

– Veronika Syrotkina (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv) will visit Bilbao (Spain);

- Ihor Nekrakha (Kharkiv State Academy of Design and Fine Arts) will go to Rome (Italy);

- Zakhar Shevchuk (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv) will see museums and galleries in Paris (France).

Olha Sobkovych, the editor of the informational partner of the contest "Fine Art" magazine noted the works of Yevgeniia Bozhko (Odesa State Academy of Civil Engineering and Architecture), Olena Shtepura (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv), Serhii Korabelnikov (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv), Krystyna Melnyk (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv) and Yevhenii Orlov (National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, Kyiv). Photos of the works of these young artists will be published in the magazine "Fine Arts".

In addition to the main prize, the founder of the ArtsLooker Contemporary Art portal Mykhailo Kyreito announced the proposal to organize an exhibition for all prizewinners of the Open Student Contest in Painting “Silver Easel” at the M17 Contemporary Art Centre, Kyiv.

All contestants also received the participants' diplomas and valuable gifts (a T-shirt, a collection of books "Ukrainian Art Book" from the Foundation for Cultural Initiatives ArtHuss, as well as art catalogues of the classics of the Transcarpathian school of painting A. Erdeli and Y. Bokshai) from the founders of Silver Easel. Participants will receive set of paints from Royal Talens additionally. Contest works will be published in an art catalogue and will be demonstrated at the exhibitions.

Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel" is founded as a national cultural and art event in 2016. It was first held in autumn 2016: 44 young students from 22 universities of 13 regions of Ukraine took part in the contest of young talents (more details on our website https://molbert.brodi.art/2016/). The second contest was held in April 2017, almost 350 applicants from 67 universities of Ukraine, Macedonia and Hungary applied for participation in it. 51 students took part in the second "Silver Easel", there was 7 people for one place (more details on our website https://molbert.brovdi.art/).

332 students from 64 higher educational establishments of Ukraine, as well as Belarus, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and Poland sent their  application forms to take part in the 3rd contest. Based on the results of the preliminary expert selection, the organizing committee announced a list of 50 participants (including three representatives of foreign universities) who are already arriving in Uzhhorod.

Participants and guests will be hosted at "Ungvarskiy" ethno-wellness hotel and "V&P" hotel (Khust). Among the informational partners of the contest there are such powerful art editions as ArtsLooker Modern Art portal, informational portal of visual culture Chernozem.info, informational and analytical website about contemporary art and lifestyle Cultprostir, art internet platform In Art, glossy online magazine Bestin.ua, as well as a website about the news of contemporary culture and fine arts Ukraine Art News, leading magazine Art Ukraine, "Fine Art" magazine. Media support at the regional level will be provided by two largest Transcarpathian TV companies – NSTU "Transcarpathian Regional Directorate" "Tysa-1" and "M-studio", as well as radio partners "Versiia FM", "Svit FM", "Transcarpathia FM" and "Radio Slatina". The publication "Our Uzhhorod" and the online portal Zakarpatpost.net, Media Centre of Uzhhorod National University will write about the contest events as well.
