It was published a unique edition – “Ukraine in medal art”

On September 10, 2016, at the National Museum of History of Ukraine (Kyiv) it was held the presentation of the book of the famous Ukrainian numismatist, editor of the magazine “Numismatics and Phaleristics”, a member of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine Maksym Zahreb entitled “Ukraine in medal art. Volume 1. Personalities.”

The edition was published with the assistance and support of Robert Brovdi, who also became a member of fifteen native numismatists and collectors who provided information and practical assistance in the catalogue compilation.

In general, the catalogue is built according to the classical division adopted in medal art.

Each volume will contain medals selected due to the plot: "Personalities", "Historical Events", "Landscapes" ...

The first volume entitled "Personalities" covers medals dedicated to 187 people of all spheres of life who were born in Ukraine, gave their talent, life and mind to the Motherland, worked for its development and glorified it in the world by their achievements.

The book is largely unique, because this is perhaps the first attempt to systematize and cataloguing of medals dedicated to Ukraine and its people. The 320-page illustrated catalogue includes table medals of Ukrainian themes (images, background data, reference information) that were minted in Ukraine, the Austro-Hungarian Empire, the USSR (Leningrad and Moscow Mints), Italy, Canada, Poland, Russia, the USA, and Czechoslovakia from the end of the XIX century and up to the present time.
