The third Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel" has started in Uzhhorod.

Today, on 9 October 2017, in Uzhhorod, it was started the Open Student Contest in Painting "Silver Easel". The founder and organizer of the event is Art & Culture Foundation Brovdi Art. From the first day the contest loudly declared itself in the cultural and social circles, received positive reviews among the famous artists and art critics not only in Ukraine, but also abroad. Now the art event has already become a visiting card of the Silver Land and promotes the popularization of Transcarpathia as a centre of contemporary art, where outstanding talents and wonderful ideas are born. The contest is held for the third time and will continue until 14 October 2017.

The purpose of the contest is: the identification and support of gifted student youth, the promotion of its self-realization, professional and creative development; establishment of communication and cooperation of young artists with the institutions of art market; creating the starting conditions for their successful creative and professional career; popularization and stimulation of the development of contemporary art.

For the period from September 1 to October 3, 2017, 332 students from 64 higher educational institutions of Ukraine, as well as Belarus, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Poland submitted their applications for participation in the 3rd contest. Based on the results of the preliminary expert selection, the Organizing Committee announced 50 participants (including three representatives of foreign universities) who arrived in Uzhhorod today.

The conditions of the contest stipulate the implementation of three stages: "Cityscape", "Improvisation" and "Portrait". Based on the results of the performance of the contest’s tasks, the Jury will determine the three best works in each nomination. The prize fund for each best work is 10 000 UAH. In addition to nine prize-winners in mandatory nominations, it will be determined the winners of special prizes and bonuses from the contest official partners (invitation to exhibitions, auctions, master classes, art-residences, etc.).

All participants will receive certificates of participants and valuable gifts. Competitive works of participants will be published in the art catalogue and will be exhibited at exhibitions.

The highest Prize of the contest is the Grand Prix from the founders of Art & Culture Foundation Brovdi Art. The winners of the Grand Prix can be from 1 to 3 contestants who will receive grants for travelling to one of the cultural and art centres of Europe (Bilbao, Madrid, Paris, Vienna, Rome, Munich, etc.) and visiting of the world-famous museums and galleries.

The authoritative Jury, consisting of the well-known artists and cultural figures of Ukraine, will evaluate the works. Among them there are People’s artists of Ukraine, academicians Viktor Sydorenko and Volodymyr Mykyta, an art critic, curator of PinchukArtCentre Oleksandr Soloviov, an artist, painter, one of the most famous in the world artist of collage Serhii Sviatchenko, an art historian, art critic Halyna Skliarenko, as well as the eminent Ukrainian artists Anatolii Kryvolap, Oleksandr Babak, Oleh Tistol, Pavlo Kerestei, Andrii Kartashov and Taras Tabaka.

Support and assistance in carrying out the event is provided by the general, information and other official partners of the contest.
