Exhibition "Goodbye, World!". Reviews and comments. Galyna Sklyarenko

Ph.D. in History of Arts, art critic, curator, author of more than 500 publications and books on Ukrainian art Galyna Sklyarenko:

"For a long time there was no exhibition of contemporary Transcarpathian art in Kyiv. Everyone knows the Transcarpathian School of Painting, the creativity of its founders, Erdeli, Manailo, Bokshai, and everyone is accustomed to the fact that Transcarpathian art is represented by mountains, Carpathians, peasants …. But here we faced a completely different art!

I had the opportunity to get acquainted with the contemporary Transcarpathian art even in the days of Perestroika as well as in 1993, when the exhibition "Vault" took place in Uzhhorod and the new generation, in particular, Taras Tabaka, Pavlo Kovach, presented their works there… Then, it was a purely conceptual project that responded to the situation of the 1990s – a crisis in society, problems of perception and functioning of art. However, today's project is quite different, it combined the work of different generations, there are unexpected for me picturesque works, for example, Vlad Habda, as well sculptures, and graphic works …

The exhibition is very interesting, fresh, unexpected for Kyiv, it shows us the Transcarpathian of today! But not only today, in this exhibition there is the prospect! And, in general, today it's curious to study Transcarpathia, to write about it, as interesting processes are taken place there. And the Transcarpathian school, which we are accustomed to, is being changed, enriched by the contemporary trends and directions… This exposition is exactly about it!

Congratulations to all of us on this exhibition and I think that this is only the beginning of the new art of Transcarpathia! "

We remind all admirers of contemporary art: The exhibition "Goodbye, Word!" will last at the Museum of Kyiv History until 22 May. Thus, do not miss the opportunity to get acquainted with the new art-face of Transcarpathia!
